What does heavy industry produce?

The term “heavy industry” brings to mind huge factories with huge machinery, lots of noise, lots of robots and lots of people, but it is difficult to say what exactly is being produced there. Heavy industry factories and their surroundings are shrouded in mystery, because due to their specific nature, only few people can get inside. Today we will try to explain the details of production in heavy industry

Heavy industry – what is it?

This term has probably been heard by everyone, but what does it actually mean? Well, the definition says that it is one of the three sectors of the economy and includes the exploitation of natural resources and processing them into products and energy. This is still a rather convoluted explanation, but in simpler words it can be put this way: heavy industry deals with transforming what nature provides into more useful end products for humans. It is, however, a factory process, so that, for example, agriculture cannot be included in this department

Heavy industry has three basic functions in the economy: economic, social and spatial. The first function is also called productive, heavy industry contributes to the economy of the country, because it contributes to GDP, supports the development of other sectors of the economy and accelerates technological development,

On the other hand, the social function in industry is to shape the education and occupational structure among the population or create new jobs

The role of heavy industry for space is limited to the transformation of the environment, such as changes in landforms, water and air pollution and changes in the way a given area is managed and maintained. All these functions make heavy industry a very big part of the overall development of the country’s economy.

What is produced in terms of heavy industry?

Heavy industry encompasses a great many different divisions, including construction, chemicals, minerals, metallurgy, electrical machinery, armaments, and fuel and energy

As noted in the definition, this sector is all about processing natural resources, so anything that comes up from the earth and can be turned into a product will go to the appropriate factory. A rivet manufacturer or any other factory that is involved in metal fabrication falls under the heavy industry sector. Also, factories for building materials, machinery and robots, and even cars can be included in this branch of industry

Manufacturing in the field of heavy industry requires much more qualifications than working in a regular factory, as it involves working with heavy materials and high temperatures. This makes it a much more dangerous occupation compared to working in other industrial and processing sectors. In order to be employed in such a factory, it is necessary to have proper education and training.
